Today, you'll have free time to explore Chefchaouen at your own pace. Enjoy the city's serene atmosphere, wander through its charming blue-washed streets, or relax in one of its cozy cafés. In the evening, settle into a local riad or hotel, where you'll spend the night. Dinner and breakfast are included.
We depart from Chefchaouen and head toward the fascinating archaeological site of Volubilis (Walili), where you'll explore the remarkable Roman ruins, famous for their beautifully preserved mosaics and colorful tiles that depict scenes from Roman mythology. Our journey continues to Meknes, the imperial city chosen by Sultan Moulay Ismail as his capital in the late 17th century. The city is home to 20 grand gates, over 50 palaces, and 15 miles of impressive walls. We'll visit key highlights of Meknes, including the iconic Bab Mansour Gate, the bustling Place El-Hedim (Square of Ruins), the Haras de Meknès, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. After soaking in the beauty of Meknes, we'll drive for about 40 minutes to reach Fes, where you'll spend the night.
After breakfast, we begin our exploration of Fes, starting with a guided tour of its historic medina, which is considered the oldest in the world. Wander through the bustling souks (markets), where you'll feel immersed in the vibrant atmosphere. Our visit includes stops at the royal palace gates, the magnificent Karouine Mosque, and the 9th-century university—one of the oldest educational institutions in the world. We'll also pay tribute to the tomb of Moulay Idriss II, the founder of Fes, before enjoying lunch at a traditional restaurant in the heart of the old medina. Afterward, the tour continues with visits to the exquisite Nejjarine Fountain, the serene ancient garden of the harem, and the informative Batha Museum, where you can learn more about the city's rich history. Today, we embark on a thrilling 4x4 desert adventure, exploring the heart of the Sahara. For lunch, you have the option to dine in the bustling medina, followed by a leisurely stroll through the colorful souks (markets), where you can explore and shop for unique Moroccan treasures. As the day winds down, we'll enjoy a refreshing drink while watching the sunset from the terrace of a café overlooking the lively Jemaa el Fna Square, the heart of Marrakech's vibrant atmosphere. Today, we head to the coastal city of Essaouira on the Atlantic coast, known for its relaxed atmosphere and historical charm.
